'74 Dodge W200, Correct Fuel/Gas Cap for In-Cab Tank? - 11/18/14 09:49 PM

Have been having some difficulty in sourcing the Correct Fuel/Gas Cap for a 1974 Dodge W200 Power Wagon with In-Cab (behind seat) Gas Tank.

The Stant # 10742 Cap sort of works, but it does not stop securely to seal (tightens then as you turn a bit more loosens again.) I suppose it could be a problem with the filler neck, but it looks to be Ok.

When you look for the correct part online at auto parts stores, their disclamer reads roughly "Note: cap does not fit in-cab tanks."

Does anyone have experience with this and/or Part Numbers and sources of caps that look "original" and/or at least function (as in stops in a sealed position.)

Thanks

It should be the same as my 72 D200. O'Reilly shows to have it for $7.99, p/n 6705.

Thanks for the replies. Haven't had good luck at the junkyard. Really hoping to find one locally and not off the internet.

I will try the $7 O'Rielly cap. Should be able to pick one up at my nearest store within 24 hours.

Thanks Again, DC

dont you remember "all dodge" of rancho cordova? (maybe it was called dodge only?) i had countless numbers of parts shipped from them, for trucks and rc's. no matter how obscure the part request i gave them, they always had it. always.

I bought a new '77 PowerWagon with full-time 4wd and the 440 in 1977 and gas was 38.9 in California then. I don't remember if it had two tanks or not, but it would pass anything but a gas station
Today I would rather not have an in-cab tank in my truck So if it were mine, I would pull that tank, plug the hole, enjoy the in-cab storage area and live with a frame mounted unit. A lot safer that way, but of course you can do what you want
