Need some belt and pulley help! - 11/17/14 05:03 AM

Ok guys, I am having to do an AC delete on my Ramcharger. It was non functioning and the aluminum intake on my replacement engine will not clear any of the AC brackets.

So any of you guys that have either dona an AC delete, or have an AC delete, or NON-AC with power steering on your small blocks please post up some pictures.

Is there a way to use my AC pulleys to make this work, if not what do I need to get my hands on?

I need to source a solution to this so I can get my 4x4 back for winter.

Had been using this one from an 80's 360 truck. Just not using the ac groove.

Then found this one. Not sure why the one groove is smaller, but it allowed me to run a shorter belt and tuck the alternator in

On this set up what was the belt arrangement?

crank--alt--water pump
crank--water pump--power steering

???

I found one that showed

crank--alt--water pump
crank--power steering

Front belt was crank-water pump-power steering
Second belt crank-alternator-water pump.

Had that setup so that I had 2 belts running the waterpump so that I one snapped, still had another. Original setup was one belt for alternator/water pump, and the power steering pump had a belt that didn't run over the water pump. Very scary.

I haven't been able to find one, so now I am looking at what else can be done.

By your original picture, it looks to me like if you ran on the front pulley on the Alt, your belt alignment might be a little better. Might be the angle of the picture though. Do you have room between the back of the Alt and the head to move that alt behind that top bracket and re-size the spacers to gain belt alignment?

I've also seen where if you can swap the 2 grove Alt pulley for a single grove alt pulley, the belts align pretty close on some applications.
