$128! 2001 CTD oil pressure sender switch

$128! 2001 CTD oil pressure sender switch - 11/11/14 07:12 AM

Looks like the oil pressure sender switch is bad in my new rig, as it reads 80 psi when not running.

Looking on RockAuto, they are $128- for a sender switch.

Am I missing something here, or is this nuts? The switch looks pretty basic.

Foolish question. did you unplug the sender and check to see what the gauge read?

Not yet: in seeing that MoparMan1973 had a section regarding this sender unit in his 2nd Gen 24V webpage, I figured it was a common failure/issue.

I will do that however- thanks Stumpy.

I'm not sure exactly what year Ma started doing this but I know at some point the sender just became an on off switch and the gauge was controlled by software to read what it should be, at whatever temp and rpm. No actual input from the sender.

Guitar is right about the virtual oil pressure gauge on your CTD. They went to that crap when the 24V came out in 98 1/2. Genos garage has the sending units for $87.

I replaced that in my 2000 ram. It was $400 all said and done.

Boy I miss that truck
