...pitman arm shaft leaking, anybody know of a mechanic-inna-bottle that works? I know-fix it right and be done with it, but right now I can't do it. Just looking for a patch Thanks

Lucas has stop leak, worked the one time I used it.

DOT 3 brake fluid is a dirty trick, but it works.

The Lucas product does, in fact, actually work as advertised- for a while. You really need to weigh the cost of putting in fluid constantly to the outrageous cost of a rebuilt box, and decide what you want to do.

I never have heard of the brake fluid trick. Can you explain it further?

My understanding is that the properties in brake fluid tend to swell the seals. It wouldn't help in the event of a cracked case.

Thank you, that makes some sense. Probably worth the trial to see how far you can go IF you already have the resolve to replace the leaking box anyway.

I believe the pitman shaft seal is serviceable. In vehicle (tricky) or on the bench. I've never done it but the FSM would have the steps or maybe somebody will post it.
