Best way to lower my 77 dodge van? - 05/29/14 08:05 PM

Just wondering what my best bet is to lower my van down some. I don't want it slammed but just need to come down some so it's not so jacked up. I've got some keystones going on it this weekend and I just wanted to get it sitting on them nicely.
Thanks for any help.

I forgot to mention that it's a 200 which I believe has larger springs. Can I take out a couple springs in the back of it to get the rear of the van down some?
Thanks for any help.

sure, and possibly induce some bad handling problems and reduced load capacity..

cut 1.5 coils of front spring. use a set of 2" rear drop shackles for 40 bux from advanced auto parts.

I just used a set of the chebby drop shackles with correct bolt size on my 85 stepside.

That's pretty cool. I probably wont go that low. Probably a couple of inches higher then that. The front end is not that bad where it sits but the rear end of the van really sits up way too high right now. I think just getting that down some will help the looks of it a lot.

I have NOT lowered an earlier B van, so this may not apply.
I did lower the front of my 2002 B2500. Cut just under a full coil off. Rides poorly, so I expect you will also need to change shocks and of course an alignment. The rear requires longer shackles, BUT the shackle goes from the body UP to the end of the spring, and to lower it much will put the spring eye above the floor, requiring cutting a hole then boxing in the area. I didn't do that yet.
I also swapped on late model truck wheels that required some spacers, studs and grinding in front, and some thick spacers in the rear, with low profile 17s.

Thanks, I'm actually repainting it all this coming winter to look like the one used in the brochures. I've found some chrome slots for it as well as the 5 piece spoiler kit for it. The factory 318 will be coming out of it and a 2003 360 magnum will be going into it that's slightly modified and now carbureted. Also picked up a factory sky light sunroof for it as well.
