Neighbor found an old Dodge panel truck - 03/28/14 04:29 AM

As stated, a neighbor of mine came over today with some pics of an old Dodge panel van in the yard of a house they are flipping. I'm not sure of the year. I'm thinking late 50's early 60's. Kinda rough, but what do you all think? I's got a slant six/three speed man. Also, what do you think it's worth as is?
Thanks for any info you can give me.
Heres a few pics.

I think that grille first appeared in the 60 model, & was last used in 66.

Not enough pix for me to give a fair opinion. I'm usually to high or low compared to most people anyway.

I did give $425 for a 66 Town wagon with a hurt but running 392 in it back in 1987 from Zack, but that's too long ago to help.

If it runs and moves under its own power, and has the required paperwork to make it license-able, its worth 2x what it is as a project shell. I was going to add a line about the amount of rust the truck has, but then I saw where you are located, you guys don't know what rust issues are, so that would have been a mute point.

We sold a wore out, but solid body 56 panel,(In the IL rust belt) that was licensed and drove, for $2500, several years ago. The real life market is somewhat limited for them.

Cleaned up with proper paper work, $2500-$3000.
Running but not driving slant 6/3 speed, add another $500 (at most), that drive train may actually be a liability.
Able to drive around the block (and stop), add another $500.
Highway capable with all the above, $4000-$5000.
Show quality. ??? how bad does someone want it.
No paper work, not cleaned up, not running- $500-$1000, assuming its mostly complete and not missing huge chunks of metal.
Your biggest problem will be getting it from where its at to where someone wants it to be, and that could be a deal breaker. Lots of people like to walk around something and kick the tires, there is a huge drawback to paying someone to haul it home if its more then a couple hours away. Gene

No slant sixes before 1961

The VIN will tell you what year it is, if you take the time to look.

Old panels are cool.

Model D100

Thanks again "Dog". I went to the web site you put up (http://www.t137.com/registry/help/decode.php). Copied the info for my neighbor, and took it over to him this morning. He's happy as a clam now.

He's looking to sell (I'd say cheap, just to get rid of it)! He's not into cars (trucks), and wants to get it gone. So someone let me know. It'll be next door to me (in a few days) for a while if anyone wants more info/pics.
Thank you.

I have a really long memory and I can recall a PowerWagon like that (2wd) that someone had swapped in a 392 Hemi with a GMC blower and it became a magazine article vehicle...might have been Hot Rod, Car Craft, Popular Hot Rodding. Last year at the "Summer Sizzler" Mopars Unlimited Northwest Chapter car show in Oak Harbor, WA there was a 4x4 one on display that had a winch on the front bumper and was period perfectly restored in the same colors as the one we are talking about. I think it had a Poly V-8 for power and was somebody's labor of love. I used to have a picture of it, but no more
