Lug pattern size - 12/03/13 04:49 AM
What would be the bolt pattern size on a 1980 1/2 ton, long bed Dodge?
I'm looking for a truck for a 16 year old and have come across a few /6, four speeds out there.
Oh, and what kind of gas mileage have you guys seen with these rigs?
Thanks

5X4 1/2 that \6 will get all over the board for MPG but you do a Super Six intake & carb
Back in the day I made a \6 lean the other way in a truck like you're describing

Two wheel drive has five 1/2x20 studs in a 4 1/2" bolt circle. The 4x4 has 1/2 studs too but five in a 5 1/2 " circle....they eat gas pretty well. I suppose a two wheel drive might get near 20 mpg on highway only.

Thanks for the posts. I was hoping for a little better mileage but I guess with the rearend gearing that it probably has, I should have known. A car would probably be easier on gas.

It's not the rearend gearing as much as the weight of the vehicle.
Put that slant six in a Valiant and it'll get much better mileage than in a 2-ton pickup truck.
On the other hand a pickup is a lot handier.....
