Is the stamped DODGE RAM on the metal of the tailgate behind this chrome piece?

probably not....just mounting nubs for the plastic retainers to hold on the trim...

nope, i have a gate off of an '87 that had the trim, and it wasn't under it.

Thanks Basket - I can quit wondering now!!
I have an 84 Ram and I need a tailgate - and this one is the same color as my truck. Although I like the stamped DODGE RAM better, I think I'll buy this on just to have one!

From the front and the rear

2wd Ramcharger smacked the rear and Saturn asked the front(head on) RC broke free from the trailer on impact
