im not really sure how to ask this but i was trying to diagnose why my brake lights are not working and there was a loose red wire connected wrapped with the white wire connected to the brake light switch. I accidentally grounded the red wire and it arced and now the truck has no power. does anybody know what the red wire goes to and any ideas why i have no power now

Re: brake light switch - 05/01/13 07:39 AM

Ill check my 72 in the morning.

Sometimes when my brake lights didnt work, I wriggled the turn signal, got it back to center, and they work. Push the lever a tad up or down, and they stopped working.

I replaced the cam with one that had uncut wiring and its been working fine. It cancels back to true center. I also noticed my hazards would work but wouldn't show the left side working on the gauges. Wriggle the black square, and it works haha

I won't be able to check the truck until about 10 or so tomorrow. I'll post when I check

Check the fusible link under the hood. It feeds all the power.

You should have two wires on the switch. Power in and the other to the turn signal swtch.

Re: brake light switch - 05/01/13 07:04 PM

the red wire went to the brake light switch but i just put a new bbrake light switch on and the driver brake light stays on now. maybe switch the wires on the switch around?...... nevermind i forgot the switch is always hot unless its pressed

Adjust the switch. You should have power in but not out until you push the pedal.

Looks like the terminal of the brake switch is broken off in the pink wire terminal end.
