dakota spindles - 04/17/13 03:48 AM

read the long post on lowering 72-93 half tons.couple of questions.in the pic of ram, dakota, and dropped dak spindles,it appears even a stock dak spindle would supply some drop in a ram?also, certainly d250 balljoint studs do not fit the tapers in the dak spindles?

How many times we have to tell you. If you DON'T have the 4000 pound Axle the 1/2 and 3/4 ton use the "SAME" front end components other than the rotors. Just because it say D250 or D350 means Nothing. The axle relating is the Key. Yes even D350s have Halfton balljoints. Cars from the late 50s early 60s use the same balljoints as a 93 Dodge truck. Here's one way to see what fits what. Call your local parts store and get part numbers or go to rockauto.com and do the same.

Convinced now. You can use your 8lug rotors if Not the 4000# axle

Go look at the axle rating on the sticker inside the door if it's still there because you will need this info to get correct part #'s

Why don't you take pics of your LCA's & we can help you to understand what you have & what direction to go with it

If by chance you have a pocketed LCA already all you can really do is cut the spring no more than 1 1/2-1 3/4 coils most

There may be someone mention using the 1/2 ton spring & it working
They have never tried it!
When you cut the bump stop off so it won't sit on it the next thing that the suspension hits is the steering shaft from the column
Do pay attention cause I can't see any way to make any clearer Balljoint usage jumped around

If you can measure the diameter of the shaft on the tierod where it threads into the sleeve & I can help determine which frontend you have

ok, so balljoints work.as for the other part of my question.from the picture from the tech archives of the ram spindle, stock dak spindle, and dropped dak spindle,if i see it how i believe i do,a ram would get 1-3 inches lower simply using stock dak spindles.correct,or did i just fool myself eyeballing the pic?
