Trash all of it and go with the Lokar cable system. Its too easy and gets rid of all of that stuff.

Tough crowd. Good thing you're not asking about your dog...they would be telling you to take it out back and shoot it in the head.

Looks like all you need is the stud that bolts onto the carb linkage. I have the same setup on my truck and it runs fine.

Re: throttle/kickdown bracket - 04/03/13 11:13 PM

I went with the setup from BPE. Not terribly impressed with the installation and it required a fair amount of modifications but it does appear to work (havnt had a chance to test drive the van yet).

that's what my '87 has, works fine.

Re: throttle/kickdown bracket - 04/04/13 12:28 AM

I have a 2" spacer under my carb and trying to make the throttle and kick down linkage work properly was driving me nuts so I trashed it all and went to the Lokar setup...works great...didn't know how to answer the op's question so I went with the next best thing...

Re: throttle/kickdown bracket - 04/04/13 02:08 AM

maybe something like this would work for now? gfrservb

Re: throttle/kickdown bracket - 04/04/13 02:19 AM

This works great
Takes out all the guess work & doesn't rely on hoping that you drilled the hole in the arm in the right place for the Lokar to work correctly
Uses parts that you can buy at Dodge or a parts store if the cable breaks

Re: throttle/kickdown bracket - 04/04/13 03:28 AM

not to hijack this thread but....what type of replacement cable does that factory setup use? I have one for a Dodge van and the thing is about 6 feet long. I need to get this figured out so I can install my a518.

Re: throttle/kickdown bracket - 04/04/13 04:59 AM

I would take the factory linkage over the crappy Lokar any day!

I have a Lokar cable in my swap meet bucket I took off my Ramcharger. Not able to locate a factory linkage I went with the BPE throttle plate and factory type cable for the 518 trans swap.

Re: throttle/kickdown bracket - 04/04/13 01:27 PM

here it is on a tall rpm intake. I did riase the throttle cable clamp so the cable was level with the stud since this pic.(and they said stock linkage wont work on the RPM intake...)

stock 78-440 truck 3-piece linkage

just swaped a 3-piece set up over to the 85 318/727 replacing the 1 piece set up. it is off a mid 80s SB 4-v dippy. much more adjustability with the 3 piece.

if you need the tall intake bracket for the B-engine,AREngineering has them.

Check out AR Engineering, one of the sponsors for Moparts. Looks like they have nice stuff, and many options.

scratch it looks like we have the same setup, it your throttle cable goig at an angle to the carb. mine might as well be in the back of the carb

Dutch looked like a cute guy. Having a throttle bracket from a cruise control vehicle can help with the hi-rise intake.

I have the Bouchillon cable kit and it works great! Took maybe a little more than an hour to install without any help. Looked at the Lokar, but spent the extra money.

91 Dodge van is what I used when I built my 1st one from scratch
The Bouchillion kit uses the same cable it looks like
I compared them when I got my 1st Bouchillion

Yes, they just add their own prefix to the BPE part number.

Re: throttle/kickdown bracket - 04/25/13 07:35 PM

I am using the Mancini tall bracket which puts the throttle cable on a more even plane with the carb lever.

I ended up using the ar tall throttle bracket and it works almost perfect. yes i know my kickdown is upside down.will work even better when i put a carb spacer on it

Re: throttle/kickdown bracket - 05/02/13 04:56 AM

Exactly as I am using a spacer too and it is good to go. Glad it worked out for you. I did; however install a longer linkage adjustment piece that allowed me to dial in the up and kickdown shift points.

yep, looks like I will be going with that bracket to ditch the hoky cruz control clamp I am using. close but cant get 100% full throttle with it.

where did you get the extention and would you post a pic of it on your carb/intake?

Re: throttle/kickdown bracket - 05/02/13 02:31 PM

I bought it off of EBAY I think the seller's handle was torqueflite patty. I looked on EBAY last night but couldn't find it but I'll look again. I'll run out and take a pix of my setup and post it this AM

Re: throttle/kickdown bracket - 05/02/13 03:20 PM

I used the previous Edelbrock adjuster years ago when I swapped to a taller manifold. They just screw on to end of your adjustment rod then the adjuster screws on to it.

BTW, Summit Racing has both sizes in stock 1/4" and the 5/16" for $7.95

Re: throttle/kickdown bracket - 05/03/13 03:50 AM

That looks like an allthread union nut and a short stud in one end...about 75 cents at your local bolt store. I know fastenall carries the union nuts.....

Re: throttle/kickdown bracket - 05/03/13 06:02 AM

That would be great for that price
