a friend of mine just bought a 97 ram 2500 w/5.9 auto 2wd. i want to change the fluid and filter for him. what type of trans fluid does it use, atf4? how much should i buy?

It is atf4 but I'm not sure how many quarts. I don't have my manual handy.

Look on the dip stick.I believe it was 7176 back then.I think 4 came a few years later.Rocky

ATF +4 and if you drain it good your going to need between 8 and 10 quarts. just did a 96.
