Cool, though I never have seen one. And I haven't ever seen the "built in" cooler either.

I remember the ice chest & remember seeing the top but thought someone had put it on there as it was the early 90's when I saw it & people put vinyl on just about everything in the 70's-80's so I just blewed it off & figured the idea was cool

I had several with the cooler. The top was steel with a textured finish to simulate vinyl. Mopar accessories had a soft top kit as well as some aftermarket companies.

The top I remember had real vinyl material on it & I figured it was a made up deal anyway I have the perfect SE tailgate that came off of it still

The top they are showing in the promo video is a standard steel top with a vinyl covering glued on, like you would see on a car.

That's what that RC had & I thought someone had done that to it

Insulated beverage chest.

I almost bought one like the red one with the 15x8's and white top, but saw a triple black 78 Magnum in the showroom, and said "baby I gotta have it".

Coded MF1 for white, MF2 for black.
Available 75-78

Bought this parts RC about 10yrs ago that had a black textured and still had cooler and 15x8 steelies.
Low mileage RC to boot.

On a couple of my sweptlines, it has a painted top, and they say it was a vinyl top, as it is textured, my 68 coronet had that too and so did my dads 70 Challenger. I wish I knew how to recreate it. I like the way it looks

I was thinking textured top simular to a jeep is what I've seen. I've never ever seen vinyl material glued to one of these removable tops? Did it have trim holding down the material like a car, you would think it would have to. I would have to see it to believe it.

Super six available...and wouldn't you think they would align the driver side moulding on the yellow SE better for a promo?

Still, I liked the fairly basic '78 I had ...

If you skip to 3:09 in the video it begins the top options, and states white, or black textured vinyl.

Not black or white textured paint...

I thought the same thing when they did a close up of that.

There fixed. I sold them since the beginning and I have never seen an actual fabric. We sold them colored and white or black textured. The finish was like the jeeps fiberglass top. If there were vinyl tops you would think someone could show one. I dont care what you thought you saw put up proof.

Well, the proof I put up is the Dodge promo video that states "...In stylish white textured VINYL, or in equally good looking black textured VINYL..."

As I mentioned in my original post I had never seen one with a vinyl top.

So if the textured VINYL top they are advertising isn't VINYL, they why are they stating it is?

Because they can. I think its a poor wording of what was actually available. So where is a pic of that top?

Its in the video, they show both the white, and the black.

They show a white and a black picture but that does not clearly show a vinyl top. Even the way the top is edged does not represent a true vinyl top. I remember the textured finish and it was a spray on. Maybe the material in the spray had vinyl attributes.
Having been in a Dodge dealership for over 30 years I can tell you sales, service, and parts literature has been full of mis-information.

Like I said, they painted it on all the way back in the 60's, but it was still called a vinyl top.

I partly agree on what you are saying. The correct wording should be simulated vinyl top. A true vinyl top was vinyl material glued to the metal roof.

Here´s the relating page out of the 75´ dealer brochure.
It also says "vinyl-textured paint" ...

Ahh Thank you for posting that.

That is definitely different wording than the video states.

Either way, I had no idea that a vinyl (other than the aftermarket soft top was even available)
