Ravelco anti theft system - 09/27/23 02:25 PM

I recently bought a new Challenger R/T and am looking at an anti theft systems for it. One system that seems to have a good reputation is made by a company called Ravelco. Does anyone here have any direct experience with a Ravelco anti theft system? Has anyone had it installed on their vehicle? Just want to get some real world comments instead of relying on marketing claims.

Thanks

I can help you here. I have Ravelco installed on my 2020 Wide Body Scatpack Plus.

It’s a well established setup, and Company postings and claims are true. It is not a gimmick.

Installers may be hard to find depending on your location.

I’m In the St Louis area, and my Chicago installer met me at a motel halfway (Bloomington, Illinois)

This was in Sept. 2020. Cost $500, I tipped him $50. Took about two hours or so.

You will lose remote start unless you leave the plug inserted. I never used remote start anyway.

It’s a great system, and is my primary point of a wide security setup:

Ravelco

Neutral pull security cover with security torx screws

Battery powered GPS tracker with unique IPhone ring

Club for steering wheel

Club for steering wheel plus brake

Faraday box for key fobs

Proximity entry disabled

Emergency pull rope on attached garage disabled

Garage alarmed and has video alerts

Strategic parking as much as possible

Car is a pleasant day garage queen, so it’s very rarely out of my sight

Personal protection as needed (2A, pepper spray, personal high decibel alarm)

If you were ever to get carjacked, one option is to pull and toss the Ravelco plug. The car will be immediately disabled, and it would be a time issue to retrieve the plug, and orient it properly for insertion.

I in no way use all of these measures all the time. Just as conditions warrant.

Also, you can Google “IGLA ALARM.” That’s another alarm system. Considerably more expensive. I think it can retain remote start. I don’t have first hand knowledge on IGLA.

PM with any questions. wave

Thanks for the replies, especially to Cometstorm since he had it installed on his widebody.

FYI - the install now costs $825 for a Challenger or Charger. Pricey, but probably worth it.

Thanks again!

Might get a break on your car insurance?

I don't know this for a fact, but years ago, I was told you could defeat one by jamming a peeled potato into the recepticle and it would bridge all the prongs and allow it to start. Probably just a rumor!
