USPS Rural Carriers Not Getting Paid

USPS Rural Carriers Not Getting Paid - 09/17/23 11:08 AM

Any USPS rural folks having issues with there package delivery? For the past two pay cycles many have not gotten paid and had to take about 65% of there pay in the form of a money order.

If you use your googler there are many articles where AI is determining the cut in hours and pay pn top of there paying system not working.

I ask this as my packages 2 from Canada have been lost in the past two weeks just as they were to be handed off by three rural carriers to get to me and I hate to think it but wonder if there might be some bad feeling or retribution type stuff going on.

I hate it for the USPS folks but at the same time im angry as heck that I got some rare trim pieces seemingly lost and im not sure if one set can ever be replaced.

Its getting bad enough Im almost afraid to buy parts if im not going to receive them.

Anyone?

Had a package coming from Fedex (I am rural) and it was on the truck for 2 days but never delivered, always went back to the warehouse, it was finally delivered on day 3. My guess was he wasnt driving here to drop just one package and waited for others - might be your case too?

I had an item supposedly delivered that wasn't. Fortunately it wasn't a big ticket item but i am a bit leery of the USPS. We shipped a Pkg. to Oregon and it took 6 or 7 weeks to show up whistling twocents

My brother is retiring from the USPS at the end of September (this month) and can't wait to be done with them.

He said it's gotten to be a miserable place to work.
He does the maintenance on the mail sorting machines.

Yeah no shutdown yet so what’s up? Why not front page news?

I sent a small package out and it was delivered next day, work done, item back the next day. That was in past ten days that all happened. USPS.

One of the many things I've done in life is run a rural PO route out of a small office. Been a few years. It was a mess back then, run by loons. I can only imagine now.

I do not know why, but do know many are subcontractors.
They pay for own vehicle, insurance, fuel and up keep. So assume they are not paid same way.
I know 2 who are. One is a friend of mines wife, one one is a friend.
The vehicle must meet USPS Standards and is not cheap to buy into.
My friend's wife had to run hers into the ground since the cost wemt way up on a new one.

The postal workers use Honda CRV's around here, regular LHD ones. They use to have RHD imported cherokees and stuff

Well it just gets better....

Last real scan was in Cali at the customs center. They photograph every package. My photo does not show a package, just a shipping label.

Got this from my postmaster this am...

That's what she had Cherokee
There used to be a guy in South Mississppi who did my friend's home. He drove from the middle of the seat in a regular car with his left foot.

Noticed and realize it best to not expect a delivery on a Sunday. Apparently the seller of goods contract with the cheapest delivery means possible. The cheap shippers often "hand off" to usps. The cheap shippers get to use the US delivery vehicles and are absolutely thrashing them. Our mail delivery is often late on (especially) mondays and is sometimes by the USPS employee personal vehicle.
Next time I see our "regular" delivery person I'll ask if they have missedpay. I suspect it may be the contract workers that are getting the trickle down.

I bought from.eBay before from someone who said US Seller but took 3-4 weeks and had a chicken scratch return address.
I wonder if China keeps shipping low to keep the export rolling to flood our market

Re: USPS Rural Carriers Not Getting Paid - 09/20/23 12:16 PM

Over the last 40 years I have seen more than I can count “close call” near accidents on rural KY, IN, NC and FL.

Drivers “mostly” obey stopping for school buses,
but “crazy” behavior getting past stopped mail delivery vehicles on narrow roads with short sight lines is more common than rational patience.

I hope rural delivery drivers opt for twice normal amounts of life insurance.

It is “morally unfair” if their paychecks do not dependably arrive on time,
kinda like not paying as agreed the crews that remove land mines from old battlefields.
