Anybody like to sip pickle juice?

Anybody like to sip pickle juice? - 07/21/23 04:39 PM

I do. I see some vendors sell versions of it to relieve cramps. Anyone ever buy any? Thinking about it. Where to get it? No issues with cramps, I just like the taste. shruggy

All the time. It knocks down heartburn, but it seems to work best if I don't refrigerate it.
I also eat a few Jalapeno slices if I wake up feeling congested. And I sip that juice as well.
I just tell myself it's medicine. It helps with the overpowering taste, lol

First time I saw it sold by itself was at one of the delis at the Markets at Shrewsbury, a couple of years ago. I use it for a marinade sometimes. I'll put some chicken breasts or pork chops in a jar, fill it with pickle juice, screw the lid on tight and stick it in the fridge for a few days, turning the jar a couple of times a day.

I do on occasion.
My mom used to drink it a bit for health reasons. But her way of getting it was buying a jar pickles.

I like Bread and butter pickle juice, after all the pickles are gone. Dill pickle juice is strong, but it’s all basically apple vinegar, one of the best preservatives know to man. Those red pickled sausage are great too. Pickle juice is sold in batches for ‘canning’, your great gramma knew this.

I'm not a huge fan of pickles but the wife is. While out shopping we came across these and decided to give them a try. Even I'll admit, they were pretty tasty. I'm thinking they would be great on a burger but haven't tried yet. They are some angry pickles for sure. The moonshine itself was ehhh... The pickles however would make your tongue go numb. Not what I was expecting at all. I know it's a bit out there for pickle juice but figured I would share for those who may not have stumbled across them yet. up

Drinking pickle juice used to be the thing for beating a drug test in the 80s and 90s, so I've heard. whistling

Saw these at a state store and was intrigued. But for $22 a jar i passed. My brother in law pulled the trigger last week and I tried a few. Good, but different. Tried one on a burger, no thanks. It was not good.

Pickle juice is a known cure for cramps and soreness.

I'm surprised this post hasn't taken a sharp turn yet because of the title.....

It doesn't matter where you put Picklesburgh...it's gonna be packed. And today was no exception.

Delaney's birthday celebrations are extending through the weekend with a friend party (complete with two Disney princesses) this morning, and then a family party tomorrow, so with all of that excitement and the preparation for it, I didn't get a chance to make it down until this afternoon.

The festival moved off the Sister Bridges and into downtown, and that didn't mean that the lines would be shorter; it just meant that it could accommodate more people. While I wasn't really interested in waiting in line (I was there to take pictures), every line for beer and food was packed, which was awesome to see for the vendors.

My favorite shot of the day is the one from Mt. Washington. As soon as I heard the pickle was going to be in PPG Place, I KNEW I had to grab that shot, but I also knew the trees were pretty high. So I made sure to bring my tripod, put my camera on it, and lifted it far over my head; mission accomplished.

Did yinz go dahn to Picklesburgh n'at? If so, what'd ya think?

If you missed it earlier this week, I just found out that I was nominated for Best Photographer: Creative with the City Paper as well. While I KNOW that I'm not the best, if you'd like to vote for me, I wouldn't say no...

That's funny because everyone knows that if you "pick a pack of pickled pickles, you end up with a lot of packed pickles in Picklesburgh having lots of fun!

Grew up in McKeesport so I consider myself from the "Burgh". Bought my RR in '69 from the local Plymouth dealer and raced it at PID (and drag raced my bikes there too) and then bought my race bikes from Bohn's Cycle and sponsored by them too.

Never been to Picklesburgh but on my list of things to do as I still have family in the Burgh area.

Local Brewery does a pickle beer. It is really good, its actually very refreshing. Its a great beer to have after you mow the yard.

My memory is bad but I seem to remember a promotion where she was holding an orange with a straw stuck in it. But I cannot find a photo of that.

Re: Anybody like to sip pickle juice? - 07/24/23 12:46 PM

The most important “ingredient” in these juices may be the microscopic “bugs” living in the juice that then begins to stay and grow in your gut.

The scientific “buzzword” today for these thousands of tiny bacteria, virusi and fungi is “microbiome”.

When I was young and a Boy Scout First Aid trained “Corpsman” I thought of all these tiny creatures as “bad hombres” who would infect a cut or scratch, ooze nasty puss, and painfully kill you.

Today at least some of these tiny creatures are thought of as “Marshall Dillion Posses” rather than cruel hordes of merciless outlaw bandits.
They search out, attack, and kill the “bad guys” or at least run the undesirables “out of town.”

Without these little ‘bugs’ you would probably die today, they’re very essential

But you only get those microbes from fermented pickles. Vinegar brine kills them.
