That was a pretty amazing landing.
I love hydroplane racing. I remember one called Miss Chrysler Crew racing at Tampa back in the 60's.

My buddy did the Rolls Royce Griffon V12 in this vintage unlimited. Miss Canada IV.
It held a Water Speed Record briefly in 1950 set in Picton Ont at 173 mph.

I remember seeing several drivers die in those boats on T.V. when they blew over whiney
One of the guys I worked with race the smaller outboard driven hydroplanes, they ended up using ejection cockpits from U.S. military fighter aircraft up after several of their drivers dying in crashes work

A Griffon ?! I can imagine how glorious that thing sounded - big Merlin & Griffon fan, and I miss the "proper" engines in the hydros.
A buddy/mentor & I ran a couple tunnel-hulls back in the late '70s, and yeah, the blow-overs were something you'd think about.
Lots of finger-dancing on the outdrive controls to keep the thing on plane; you could feel the boat getting light and the hear the RPM & prop speed pick up when the thing was about to swap genres, so to speak.
Couple years of that and we went back to things with tires...

THAT was a great video. Thanks for that.

As someone who grew up in northern KY area. I've been to the Madison Regatta a few times. And to watch these boats in action if a blast
