Ford pauses production of their electric truck

'DETROIT – Ford Motor has paused production and shipments of its electric F-150 Lightning pickup due to a potential battery issue, the company said Tuesday.

Ford spokeswoman Emma Bergg declined to disclose details of the possible battery issue, which is being investigated after a vehicle displayed a potential problem as part of the automaker’s pre-delivery quality inspections.

The stop-shipment order and halt in production was issued at the beginning of last week, according to Bergg. It adds to ongoing “execution issues” detailed to investors earlier this month by Ford CEO Jim Farley that crippled the automaker’s fourth-quarter earnings.

Shares of Ford were down about 1% in midafternoon trading Tuesday. The stock was trading for under $13 a share.

Ford has not established a timeline for when production and the shipments will resume, according to Bergg.

“The team is diligently working on the root cause analysis,” she said, adding the company is “doing the right thing by our customers” to resolve any potential issues before resuming production and shipments.'

My eldest cousin traded his beemer for a Tesla, now he's bent out of shape about the 130 mile range. No, I don't know which one he bought. The son of one of my Dad's friends has a Tesla, lives in Albuquerque and can't make it to Las Cruces on one charge. Other than range, I think both of them are very happy with them. I don't enjoy hanging out at gas stations or travel plazas, so they're a big no for me.

As far as the Mazda link posted. I myself will never own a EV never. I will be long dead before they are fully interrogated.

But for that Mazda....IF I worked 5-10 miles from home semi rural and if that added up to 10-20 miles per day that would be perfect. We all know our gas cars do poor on short trips and non warmup runs. So in similar cases I could see it. Even if only bought as a work car for the write off.

Once they are done being interrogated, will they be brought up on charges?

BS. Just because the companies are making them doesn't mean the public will be buying them. In the 50s people viewed the homes of the future- the domed round homes with a robot servant and automated kitchen appliances. People would observe and say neato. But it drives me crazy to hear him promote to existing techs the training for the "incoming wave of EV vehicles.'
