Series 66 K&N filter. 550% increase. WHY?!?!?

I figured I would log in and try to replace my Series 66 K&N air cleaner that I lost in a fire 4 years ago. To my astonishment my original purchase of $350 for the pair of front and rear teardrop style air cleaners is now $1491.00 ONLY for the front and another $1354 for the rear. I only bought them a decade ago

WTH happened?

Not sure you can even buy them at that price. Site shows out of stock.


I about had a heart attack the last time I went to buy a plain old oval paper air filter element for my 383 fresh air hood air cleaner. $110 to $130 for a Fram air cleaner element?!?

I found them locally (Greece) for 1700 bucks complete front and rear with stackrings and hardware....I like em....but I don't like em that much
