Anyone know of good body shop in Central PA

Anyone know of good body shop in Central PA - 10/18/22 02:17 PM

I ended up with a 1972 Dart Swinger and it's not a total rust bucket but it does have some panels that need replacing. It came with a big pile of brand new AMD panels - inner/outer rockers, quarter panels, trunk extensions, inner fender wells. I will strip the car and strip paint in rust areas so I can get a good assessment overall. I need someone to replace panels, primer and paint the rolling body.

Anyone have experience with a body shop or restoration shop that does good panel replacement and paint work in Central PA?
I'm about an hour west of Harrisburg and we just moved here last August from NH so I am not all that familiar with who is out there.

Conversely, if anyone had bad experiences feel free to warn me of who to stay away from!

Consider posting this inquiry on FABO. A number of FABO members live in that area ...

Thanks! Found their Facebook page and a lot of reviews on review sites/messages boards. Looks to be a couple hours from me so definitely a possibility.

I know Dennis and his family VERY WELL. His work and reputation speak for themselves. Ask around and you'll see. As far as Dennis as a person, I can tell you he is THE BEST!! Dennis shuts down his shop for about a week every year in July to DONATE his time to helping me with anything I need for the Carlisle Chrysler Nationals. He asks for NOTHING in return.

Keith, you probably met Dennis this year as he was a huge help with the Mopar Collectibles Display in Building R. He was with me until nearly midnight a couple of nights getting that all set up (and we start around 7am sleep ).

The one problem with Dennis' shop is that they have about a 3 year waiting list to get it. Definitely give him a call if you can wait that long. Pretty much any good shop has a long wait to get in frown

Thanks, Ed!
Yes, I did meet Dennis when we dropped off my son's boat for the display and I think he was there when I picked it up on Sunday also! Small world! Definitely sounds like a good man to deal with. Could be worth the wait since this project fell into my lap and I am in no rush!

Come to think of it , I did meet them way back on my only trip to the Mopar Nats in Columbus back in 1992 as they were pitted next to me. I believe they had a 63 Max Wedge Dodge back then , probably still have it. I know the paint on their Super Bee and their 68 Dart race car are really nice and trick. Cudaboy... you do an awesome job !!! I love coming to Carlisle every year to show my D150

THANK YOU for the kind words! I'm lucky to have a career that's part of my passion (addiction??) for Mopars!!

I only met Dennis because of this job and he's become one of my best friends. We might have met eventually but I doubt we would be this close. The red '63 Dodge belongs to his brother, Allen. And, yes, he still has it. Dennis is mostly known for his red '68 Bee but the family has several Mopar drag cars (and street cars). Bottom line, the hobby is lucky to have Dennis - from his restoration work to the help he gives me every year - we all benefit!

No direct experience with the shop, but I know David and his work. Great guy and top notch work! FYI, David had the purple Road Runner pedal car in the Mopar Collectibles Display. As far as cars, I'd say his calling card is his FC7 '71 Satellite 383, 4-speed. It's been displayed at Carlisle and MCACN.

I have a personal connection to that car as I found it for sale near my house 7ish years ago. It was black with a white strobe stripe and looked like a Road Runner. I was blown away when I saw the VIN was RH23N, the Pistol Grip was still in it and the fender tag confirmed the 4-speed and the color. Someone ordered the Road Runner equivalent in a Satellite. Incredible car!! I had too many projects so I passed. I'm thankful to this day that David got the car and did an amazing restoration on it!

Everyone that knew the car was absolutely blown away by the restoration that was performed. I considered buying the car also due to being a mostly complete big block pistol car, but didn't need another project at the time. It is such a gorgeous ride.

To the original poster...

My Dad and uncle run a body shop in Gettysburg, PA (should be about an hour or so from Harrisburg). We've been a Mopar family forever. Not sure what he is willing to take on as far as restoration work, but you could always give him a call and talk to him, or stop by. Nothing fancy, no website or Facebook page etc.

Miller's Body Shop
166 Hunterstown Hampton Rd.
Gettysburg, PA 17325

Ask for Larry (my dad) or Rick (my uncle).

I have seen some work out of Ludwigs Custom Body in Denver PA, I don't know how close that is to you but he painted a friend of mines GTO and it looks amazing. He also repaired it after an accident at the track and it looks amazing again.
