Ford splitting in two; ICE and EV

Is this the "new future" for the entire auto industry, or a fancy way of saying they are working to eliminate the ICE models in the future?
Maybe its a way to cover their butts for which ever direction the country/world might go?

I am leaning towards this one myself.

Either hedging their bet, or it's financial...
As in creating stock for the EV side, or a financial consideration.

The Ford family does need to think about financial survival.

The Agnelli family which controls Stellantis too.

It could go either way depending on what comes in fall 2022 and/or 2024. I think GM is making a big one by going all EV by 2028 I think it is?
