Dad and my Uncle were long time truckers...CW McCall was a stable on WWVA back then.

Bad memories for me regarding Wolf Creek Pass. I worked as a safety manager in a big trucking company during the '90s. I got a call one day from the Colorado State Police saying one of our trucks went over Wolf Creek Pass. Our accident investigator talked to another truck driver who witnessed the wreck. He said he heard the driver on the CB saying he smoked the brakes. He missed an emergency runoff ramp and went over the edge. No surviving that wreck.

Beautiful country. I think that road was upgraded significantly in the last 20 years. Now most of it is four lanes and fairly smooth sailing. Years ago it was super narrow. Still hard on brakes for a fully loaded semi-truck.
