Nothing against this new lady from all girls garage,but...she's no Chrissy my wife and I both agree and she doesn't seem to get her hands dirty or be very mechanical. So confused

She's one of the gals from All Girls Garage, if I have that name right.

Her name is Bogi and she has a solid automotive background, according to what I've read. She's good in the role. Christy Lee has moved on to a show with Ant Anstead that is somehow involved with the Property Brothers. Don't know what's happening with Heather Storm.

I have always wondered who pays for the hundreds of dollars worth of parts they use?

Bogi has hosted the popular MotorTrend series ALL GIRLS GARAGE since it launched in 2012. As a young woman Bogi pursued automotive repair as a career, becoming an ASE master certified technician and custom car builder. Her passion for empowering women through auto repair led her to found Girl Gang Garage, a unique auto shop whose purpose is to encourage and champion the entry and advancement of women within the automotive and skilled trade industries.

I would say she could work on my car anytime she wants

I just watched the episode with the totally unrestored 1972 Cobra Jet Torino

She's allright. Bruno annoys me more, but it's easy to change the channel.

I mean, it's just passive entertainment.....It isn't like I'm not going to let any of them work on anything of mine wink

With few exceptions, and Bogi is not one of them, I wouldn't let those TV mechanics touch my stuff.

Joe seems pretty knowledgeable and of course he's a Mopar guy,he seems pretty cool!

I enjoy Joe, as much for the Chicago accent as anything.
Some of the humor is just what you expect from garage work (cleaned up of course).
They must get a helluva check from Rock Auto, or some other arrangement.

I enjoy the show. I liked Christy and Heather...saw Christy on some cooking show designing outdoor kitchen spaces? Thought it was odd but I wish the best to both of them. I've seen Bogi on AGG and I'm sure she'll fit OK on Garage Squad. I like that she shows the females that they can do this. I teach at a tech college and many of the best we've had are girls......many times kicking some serious butt on the boys. Just talked to a dealer last week....he said he'd take girls out of our program....he has a couple now and they are rock stars.

Like the show because they don't build 6 figure trailer queens. They put cars back together so owners can get out and enjoy them....just like many of us do. Most have a story and that's always the best part! The cars aren't perfect and that's OK...they're out of the garage!! I wish more car shows took a similar approach.

Why would you watch a car show involving All girls, AKA All females? confused

Re: So garage squad changed their lady mechanic... - 12/08/21 11:40 AM

I haven't seen any of the Bogi episodes yet. I am a couple seasons behind and have been catching up. My favorite was season 1, Lauren Bohlander (or Kanaan) followed by Cristy. Heather really didn't do much for me, but I also am not enamored by Courtney Hansen like everyone else is. I prefer Katie Osborne. Or would if I ever watched Power Block anymore. Is it even still on?

I saw the road runner episode. She's not eye candy like the other girls, but seems ready to get her hands dirty.

Re: So garage squad changed their lady mechanic... - 12/08/21 02:20 PM

I like the show too, although I haven't seen the latest version yet. My only real complaint is the unreal time lines. Always with the drama of far less time than necessary to get the job done. Seems like the time constraint is a common denominator in many of today's shows. Seems that they teach more about cutting corners and getting it done quick than anything else. Why can't they just devote the proper time to get done right what they are going to do? At least they are not a full blown commercial for their sponsors. They do keep that in check unlike many of the other car repair shows.

Someone's feelings are hurt that a woman is a better mechanic than he is. laugh2 Go get a coloring book and pet a dog.

Re: So garage squad changed their lady mechanic... - 12/08/21 02:56 PM

The show is filmed here in the northern Illinois area and I've seen a few of the cars they worked on at events. I was at a big cruise where that custom '68 I think it was, Barracuda made its debut. I remember it rolling in with cameras around and a bunch of hoopla. On the show the scenes from the cruise lasted about 30 seconds! It is actually a pretty nice looking build. Some of the cars they do look sort of cobbled together in the episodes though.
A local gearhead friend of mine was telling me recently they were near his house and he went over to watch for a bit. I think he said they were working on a Pantera so watch for that in a upcoming episode.
Ryan Auto Archeologist here on Moparts hangs around with them on some of their builds I think.

Re: So garage squad changed their lady mechanic... - 12/08/21 03:19 PM

Most of the shows that I have watched , some type of family connection is mostly involved , kids or parents

So I would think it’s about getting the car out of the garage and moving on its own versus a restoration or perfection

Re: So garage squad changed their lady mechanic... - 12/08/21 03:51 PM

Yeah i think they do some good work,i never expect the cars/trucks they fix up to be total restorations. But if i had a muscle car that needed to be fixed up and get running id be fine with them getting it going. drive

The show started off with a nice idea of helping people get their old projects finished up but then it got complicated with money. Same problem that happens to most reality shows. Heather was a real sweetheart on the show, seemed super nice and fun. I'd like to hang out with Joe sometime but I have zero interest in spending any time with Bruno.

Re: So garage squad changed their lady mechanic... - 12/09/21 02:32 AM

Ok, I am friends with everyone on the crew. I hang with Ronnie and Joe on occasion and I've been a part of at least 4 different Garage Squad episodes.

Yes, Cristy had a scheduling conflict since her other show got moved around because of COVID, so she couldn't do GS this year. So Bogi stepped in. Bogie is a legit, owned multiple repair shops, done SEMA project cars, etc... She is more in the European car world than American Muscle, but she knows her stuff.

Heather was a diva, I'll leave it at that.

Bruno... doesn't come out of his trailer unless they need him to shoot something.

The parts and services are paid for through sponsorships and such with the TV production.

There is not extra crew that comes in. It really is the four guys working on these cars, Joe, Ronnie, Cy and Kingster with help from family. Sometimes they have an upholstery guy come in, or take the engine to a shop. But there is no magic crew that come in. When they aren't working on the show, they go back to being regular mechanics at shops around roughly Joliet, IL.

The time line is not one of needing to force for TV, it is because of TV material rental agreements. The production company rents most of the big parts of the stuff they use from local rental places. They have this setup months ahead of time, usually it is 8 days of shooting per episode, with a weekend in between.

I don't know what money you're talking about? It has never been about the money.

If you guys have any questions, let me know.

Very nice

I can appreciate the show when the recipient is a disabled person BUT when I see dorks that bought a car and took it apart with NO tools, skills or friends.....I find that pathetic.

Funny how that works! I sat in at a world series of poker final rounds by happenstance a number of years ago. We were there for quite some time watching. The TV version was 14 minutes. laugh2

I ran into Bruno at the 2019 Gatornationals and told him I agree with Joe that there needs to be more Mopars on the show. He laughed and said no.
I brought up that one episode where they rebuilt a 340 and Bruno said he was surprised it had so much power because, in his words, "Come on, it's a Mopar." I told him more than one big block car has seen the tail lights of a 340 powered car. He said he has since come to agree it is a stout engine.

Re: So garage squad changed their lady mechanic... - 12/26/21 10:21 PM

I very much enjoy the show and it seems to me everyone on there is pretty talented. Especially Joe and Cy I would say, but everyone including Bogi. She seems legit and I agree that Heather seemed like a real down to Earth girl and a sweetheart. That big smile didn't seem fake. I see them cut corners but then this is a show about coming to YOUR garage and getting something back on the road and sometimes back on the road is so much better than sitting on blocks. And I'd love to hang out with Joe, as others have written.

The one and only thing about the show that's EXTREMELY tiresome to me is Bruno's stale anti-Mopar/Pro-Chevy "jokes". Enough already. We get it. We got it the first 100 times. And how much time does he spend getting his hair just perfect?

Saw Bogi at Barret two years ago. Didn’t realize it at the time she was standing in front of me promoting a device that tilts a car forward or backwards. I talked with her a bit, seemed like a nice person.

Wife and I met Joe at Carlisle this year. She went to get his autograph Saturday morning while I was cruising the swap meet. When I got back to the car she was all excited, said that she showed Joe a pic of our Daytona clone and asked him if he would stop by and sign it. He said he would stop by after the autograph session which ends at 11. I rolled my eyes, yeah right I thought. At 1:15 my friend Bryan who was parked across from us with his 69 R/T wanders over with his hands up saying "Where's Joe, where's the big celebrity?" A voice from behind him says "I'm right here, sorry I'm running late Lori". My wife couldn't believe Joe remembered her name, I have trouble remembering my kids names.
Super nice guy, signed the trunk lid, got a bunch of pics with him next to our car, I'd post them but never bothered to figure out how. We talked a bit about his Daytona drag car, I thanked him for taking the time out of his busy schedule to sign the car. A true ambassador for the Garage Squad show.

I also would like to hang out with the GS crew with the exception of Bruno. I had heard that about him. eyes I always thought the females were just eye candy but Bogi seems to be the real deal. I enjoyed watching Heather as she is the blonde twin to a girl I dated many years ago. She loved working on her car or mine and didn't hesitate one minute to crawl under and get dirty. purple
