"Free " insurance

"Free " insurance - 10/08/21 02:16 PM

Our company as of 10 /1 / 2021 now has free basic health insurance ..

Deductible is still high but, no monthly kick in any longer ..

I did some research and presented the facts .. we have two locations and currently just under 100 employees and offered group insurance , so many people did not participate the term "group" was a stretch , so insurance offered no actual discount really for those that did ..

We got everyone in companies share only went up a fraction when everyone joined due to head count .. now you only have to pay deduct and or any extras , vision , dental, life, a deal like aflac ..

Made a substantial difference for me

How do you consider it free? shruggy

Can I get it for free from Western KS. Or in reality is it a work perk vs FREE? Its a perk like a extra 10 minute break, YOU have to work there and YOU give something to your company, your time and labor.

In the big picture nothing in this world is free, not even the rain.

Im happy for you and your added work perk of your company covering your costs.

the basic insurance is a added benefit and it costs the employee nothing , company pays for it ..

Previous , they only paid part of it

Might work well in a small company, hope it does.

I might be wrong but long ago didnt some of us get full med. coverage with our job?.... Ive not worked for another in 25 years or better but I recall just having a card and paying a $10 co pay for most anything even getting cut on.

I've worked places where the employee's cost was covered by the company, in lieu of actually paying the employee that money, but the spouse/dependents cost the employee.

Trust me, if the company is covering it they are more than getting their money back somehow.

Since there has been a major change in your health plan, it is good you have started researching it,
but I would urge you to spend some money, hire a “pro” and learn even more.

Ask around your circle of friends to see if
there is someone who works for a medical insurance company,
or someone who works at a hospital or doctor’s office in billing.
Be willing to pay at least $300 for help.

A pro needs to read the rules of this new health plan and translate the “medical-ese” to you.
Copay, % coinsurance, deductible exceptions, yearly limits, lifetime limits, state laws... it goes on and on and on.

These details can cost you $3000 a year easily, and one in ten will face a $30,000 bill in their lifetime
... thats why I urge buying $300 worth of prior education now as a bare minimum start.

If you are tight with your money (like me) buy this recently published $16 book at Target

It is really hard to repair cars without tools, field service manuals (FSMs), pro advice, and help from highly experienced friends.

Medical advice and health insurance navigation is FAR WORSE
than repairing automobiles.
