Guess it's been a while since I last watched it. I totally do NOT remember seeing the '70 Super Charger show car in the funeral scene. This is from the new(ish) Blu-Ray.

Above average Blaxploitation flick. Isaac Hayes and his buddy are skip tracers. They wind up killing a pimp who was well connected and that pimp's Madame (played by Nichelle Nichols!) vows to get revenge.

Lots of mopars in the movie, too. I'd bet it was sponsored by Dodge. Isaac Hayes' buddy drives a then brand-new '74 Charger SE. Loaded car! Gold w/ black canopy top. Sunroof, Power Windows, AM/FM, Rallye Gauges, Wire Wheel covers and for a couple of the stunt scenes, they REALLY cranked up the ass-end and either had some sort of aftermarket sway bar or rear end reinforcement going on. They also hijack a brand new Dodge truck.

The worst part is Isaac's cat Francis gets hung by the bad guys. That's hard to watch.

But, the movie is teaming with some pretty big name actors for the time. Isaac Hayes, Yaphet Kotto, Scatman Crothers, Nichelle Nichols, Dick Miller even an all growed-up "Stymie" from the Our Gang / Little Rascals shows up as a jail guard and even has a few lines.

If you dig Blaxpoloitation movies, it's totally worth it.

Blaxploitation movie from the '70s with Isaac Hayes. Worth watching it to see Nichelle Nichols (Lt. Uhura) as a trash-talking prostitute.

Sorry, AMC. A little slow on the keyboard this morning.

hahaha! No worries. up

It's a great flick as far as 70's movies go. The plot actually makes sense; the action scenes are half-assedly believable. They actually use squibs more often than not so if somebody does get shot, it actually LOOKS like they've been shot. The car chase between Isaac Hayes in the Charger and the Pink Pimpmobile Lincoln is pretty good. It is the ONLY Blaxploitation film that Nichelle Nichols did.... I would assume she needed the money because it's totally out of character for her. Remember, she was friends with Martin Luther King and she felt she was a GOOD roll model for young girls on Star Trek. So, to be in a low-budget shoot-'em-up was totally against her grain for sure. Ditto with Yaphet Kotto. He rarely did Blaxploitation. He was WAY more A-list, appearing in movies like Live and Let Die and The Thomas Crown Affair.

If you wanna watch another one with some big 70's mopar action, check out Shaft's Big Score! He rolls in a FE5 '72 Satellite Sebring Plus with the rare suspender stripes. Couple really good car chases in that one, too.

Noticed that the 74 Charger had the slotted exhaust tips. Would that have been a 400 or 440 under the hood? Anyone know more about the car?

Wasn't there a 72/3 Charger in the original Foxy Brown too?

Dunno. That is another Blaxploitation movie I'd like to own but currently do not.
