Home T-stat questions - 09/23/21 02:21 AM

Looking at replacing my home t-stat with an updated model. Tri-level home(2000 sq ft) forced air gas furnace/ ac. Would prefer a wifi unit with Alexa capabilities.Suggestions from my HVAC guy include a Pro T855 unit or Ecobee 3 or 4. He's not a fan of the Nest stuff. Thoughts??

I have a 2050 square ranch single level with full unfinished basement.

Propane below 35 degrees, heat pump above 35.

Two stage blower, I believe.

Bought and installed one of these myself, and I’m no DIY pro.

Love it! Checks all the boxes.

Had it about a year and a half. No issues:

I have about 8 eccobees at my home and 2 industrial building.

Just bought a lake house with a Nest and prefer it

Eccobees are bit more intuitive. Nest has a few more features and integrates with the whole Google Home thing

Seen a lot of issues with the Nest. Stay far away.

Exactly what my HVAC guy has told me. The Ecobee seems to be his preferred as well as Pro.

That's informative smile

I like the Nest. Has a neat feature that it will air condition the heated air to maintain the humidity level if required (minor problem at a lake house). I don't see that feature in the Eccobee. Plus it feels WAY more intuitive. The Eccobees are clumsy just changing between modes; heat and cool.
