Recommended metal building companies

I am getting ready close to putting up a metal building on my property and looking for recommendations on which are good companies, I am not putting up a pole barn style, it will go on a slab with the span style trusses. I don’t want ones that are nothing more than a shed (like Eagle carports, etc) but more like morton. Building is 26w x 25d x 10h with 2 8h x 9w garage doors and 1 man door on slope side. This will allow a lift inside with a 5-12 pitch. I also want to put 2 windows on the other 3 sides. I want a 9ft over hang on side to park under and a 4ft overhang over doors. Ive contacted Worldwide steel and got a price of just under 20k, delivered (not installed). I contacted morton as well and am awaiting a response. I’ve contacted kodiak but am getting a run around via email. Are there any other good manufacturers out there? I would prefer a product I could put up myself with some help as well.

I thought Morton was wood framed, not steel framed? But to the question, you get what you pay for. Compare the gauge of the purlins, girts, sheeting, and main frame rafters. The reason that I mention gauge comparisons is that, as an example, the common 'Z' purlin can be purchased in many different gauges. A quick search showed 12, 14, and 16 gauge are all available.

Compare the spacing of the purlins and the girts. What is the spacing on the main frame rafters. A lot depends on how you are going to use it. Cold storage? Heated storage? Heated workshop? Pay attention to insulation options and interior finishing options. If heated, decide what kind of heat you want, I have floor heat and love it. I note you mention a 5:12 pitch, most true steel buildings are much flatter, around 1:12.

Around here Varco-Pruden and Behlen are common. I have a 50' X 75' Behlen with 25' main frame rafter spacing, 5' purlin spacing, with one wall girt at about 8'. Wall height at the side walls is 12'. If I had bought it new I would have gone with the thicker steel door jambs (I have the 14 gauge) as I have problems maintaining alignment on my 10' X 10' overhead doors. I would have also gone with the thicker wall girts simply because when you start hanging cabinets and other things on the wall you have more to screw in to.

I'm no expert and these are my opinions, nothing more.

Going to be for car garage/ workshop. I will insulate and will have some sort of a/c unit as it gets real humid in GA, could use one of those ductless units to do both. I was thinking of either spray foam or foam sheet for insulation. The foam sheet I can do myself. I am looking at no more than 3 span trusses to keep inside open as much as possible, Worldwide says they can do it. Not sure how morton buildings are done, I’ll look more at their site.

Every single time I contacted Morton, Olympia, or the like I've gotten near identical calls of "we have one in stock that's close to what you want but slightly different. Someone cancelled their order but if you act now you can get a massive discount". It was pure disappointment and the emails were almost verbatim.

Several years ago, the shop I was at had Steel Structures America add on to the existing structure, which was a large pole barn.
They missed their start date by months, which led us into winter.
The finished product was fine, but the delay was a major disappointment.
I think they're a national company that uses regional contractors.
In context, getting any construction work done in this area is like pulling teeth, been that way forever.

When I was looking into building types, the steel constriction I liked best was Miracle Truss. They have a clear span with wooden purlins so a Do It yourselfer could source material local and save on shipping. Allowed for traditional interior and Exterior finishing. Miracle Truss

Go with whatever is big locally or else you might have problems getting support down the road if you ever need it. This is the type of thing If I can't find a way to easily call a company to talk to someone about that big of a purchase I move on.

Olympia is huge, we even see advertising for it around here.

Pricing is different depending on where you live of course but a buddy of mine stick built his shop ready to move in for the price of a steel building piled on the ground.

Metal building for a 26 x 25 is overkill, unless you got a termite problem?

With steel prices spiking you should probably be looking into wood framing.

I have Miracle Truss garage that I built myself around 15 years ago. Did everything myself except concrete.
It took me a while to assemble but it wasn't hard just tedious. Mine is all steel except the purlins. If I could do it over I would do traditional exterior and of course build one 2x as big

I am a traffic mgr for a steel building company .. we have several grades of steel , several profiles of steel , several different types of coating , we make steel for wood and steel frame buildings .. and we have taken 6 price increases on steel since October .. we hope its just a 1st quarter spike .

My advice is to lock in a price if you can, most of our builders are only holding price for 25 days ..

You can get Morton buildings set on a foundation rather than the post set in the ground. I have heard lumber has went up like crazy lately and it might be painful with metal or lumber.
We have 2 morton buildings and 3 other wood frames and not much difference.Other than Mortons higher cost. Morton uses larger boards but the others set the trusses closer.

It seems everything is going up like a rocket. Yes, we have termites everywhere in GA. I see them active everywhere, no getting rid of them. I already have a termite system around the house so I don't want a wood building and have to put one around that too. I'll check out those other companies...Miracle Truss, Carolina Carport, etc. I appreciate all the info. I like the idea of cutting cost on shipping materials.

BTW...I went stick built. Cost (materials of all types) was a driving factor. 2011, 40X50 stick built, $13k (2X6 walls, insulation {walls and celling] trusses, Doors, Vinyl siding, architectural shingles) Another $13k for masonry, $10K electrical, heat and interior finish.
