Dish soap is good for grease & grime, but seems to strip wax faster.
Car soap seems to prolong wax, but does a good job at lifting dirt from the paint.
I haven't used dish soap on a vehicle in years, come to think of it; haven't really got one grimy enough.

Dishwashing soap is too strong and strips off the wax.
Move up north, and you wouldn’t have to worry about washing your car as it’s too cold until maybe April.

Someone told me to wash your car with dish soap. He said that the reason a dish comes out so shiny is because the soap has wax in it. work

I believe him, I only use dish soap and my vehicles always get questions like "what do you use for wax" and "did you have the clear coat re-done". I haven't done either.

I have some fancy, expensive bottle of "car wash soap" I got as a Christmas gift years ago. I use it from time to time and see no difference in my wash jobs.

Take that however you want. twocents

Keep in the back of your head, this is Moparts: you'll get answers from Folks that still believe in armor all, tire shine and "cold" air kits.

Always from the ‘dawn’ of time used ‘dish soap’ - Joy. Remember the commercials where the lady was soaking the fingers in dishwashing liquid to soften her nails? If really dirty use Comet Cleanser, it actually gets scratches ( fingernail scratches around door handles), wax and ground in dirt, then you re-polish the paint.

If there is no wax on your paint, go ahead with dish soap. Or if you are about to wax,... dish soap IS good at stripping wax off paint. Common knowledge for decades.

Prolly any wax manufacturer sells a soap so I guess whatever you use. I quit waxing years ago so I just use dawn for dirt and purple power for bugs and tar. Although when I bought my HC it has a ceramic wax on it and I'm a believer now. So I suppose I'll be paying someone to recoat soon. Then I'll have to get milder soap.

iagree

We use dish soap when we are going to buff a car because it does strip all off all the protective protection. Otherwise it just seems too harsh in most cases. The car wash products with wax do have a little residual paint protection that helps a little to resist stains and is easier on any protectant that is already there.
