Hint HINT ... he proudly proclaims he lives in a noisy northern state.... tsk

Me thimks he might appreciate some gas price postings ESPECIALLY around the 75 and 95 routes ...but he is famous for making overnight excursions to ARIDzonia! laugh2

You have previously mentioned you now tow with your gasoline 5.7

Is it true in your experience that when towing something as heavy as a car on trailer
that the cost of regular gasoline per towed mile with a 5.7 V8 Ram 2500
is equal to or less than
towing with a Cummins 2500 Ram?

Today the higher cost of ULSD diesel plus DEF fluid wipes out the engine efficiency advantage of the Cummins?

I left my gas truck in Ocala, FL and we took my buddy's 09 Chevy Duramax 3/4 ton long bed back with an open trailer and a 2001 Cummins truck on it. I got 9.3 MPG towing a 76 Power Wagon Utiline with a 4" lift down on a smaller open trailer. We got 9.8 MPG with the diesel truck, which the Cummins truck and heavier 14K trailer obviously bringing the mileage down a bit., but I still believe it the added cost of the diesel and the fuel being quite a bit more expensive did not make the diesel truck worth the extra money. I think a newer Cummins Ram would probably get a bit better mileage than a Duramax, but not THAT much better.

LOL! I have 228K on my 2015 Ram now, and the trans is starting to slip a bit, and I have had engine lights come on and the code read "torque converter clutch" so you are probably right, will need to get trans serviced soon! I am pretty happy with the 66RFE so far though, if it were and older trans like the 48RE than I would have had it rebuilt 75K miles ago...

$3.79 for regular, and $3.99 for diesel. Kings Beach, CA (lake Tahoe). Gas is over a dollar cheaper in nearby Reno. For many years there was only a 30 cent spread. Now it is consistently over a dollar. frown

Reg unleaded around here at the moment is in the $1.85- $1.95 range.
I dont remember what premium is at the moment

Race gas is $8.99 and its just 10 minutes from my house

I have to mix the 2 so on average its about $80 - $90 to fill the ride up

Does anyone know of good comparison articles
about working life differences between the
66RFE contrasted to the Aisin AS68RC ?

I know of this one

https://www.allpar.com/threads/the-...s-for-ram-trucks.230031/#post-1085224129

Has Dave Goerend ever written comparing the transmissions?
