OT when were you really born?

Say you are born at 11:30pm CST May 1.
If someone asks you when you born, while you are in EST, what is the correct answer?

May 1st

I would thought there are maybe two correct answers, May 1, or if answering in a different time zone, in the example of EST, May 2, 12:30 am would be equally correct.

Your answer would be in the time zone you were born in, not the time zone next to you. So it would be May 1st.

The date of your birth is determined by the location in which you were born. The time of the day in other locations doesn't effect the date of your birth. If I were born in your time zone, my birth date would have been determined by the date and time in your location. There are 24 time zones across the world, without using the birth location, one's birthday could be a day either way from their date of birth.

Lets say I was born at 6:02 AM in my location. If you ask me what time I was born in your location it would still be 6:02 AM. My mother would attest to the fact I was born early in the morning. Gene

So to be accurate if asked when your were born, one must state the date AND the time zone born in if different, which no one ever does it seems.

When programming, sometimes it's incredibly difficult to get a date object that has just the date, and not a time

So yea, whatever the date is, and not the time, is your birth "day".

What if you were born on an airplane during an international flight over the Atlantic but your departure from a central time airport was delayed because your plane was on a treadmill and it couldn't take off until it figured out how to accomplish that feat??

I was born at 3:40 AM on April 2nd, so I stuck around just long enough to miss April 1st, so I am not changing it no matter what! Of course it didn't make any difference...
