Front wheel wells undercoating question - 11/30/11 07:30 AM

Did ALL of the front wheel well get undercoated on 70 b bodies? Or was the middle area (shock tower) left in body color?

Yeah it was pretty much a slop job but they didn't spray the shock tower area. Come to think of it my car didn't get a very good undercoat on the frame rails either. Speed was key...detail not so much

LA built cars may not have any undercoating in the front wheel wells.

That is correct! I have documented quite a few with absoulutely no undercoating in the front and very very little in the rear. I have a friend here in town who ordered his GTX new in 69 when he lived in LA, and still owns it-perfect original undercarriage.

Interesting - do these cars show any signs of fender dings from stones being thrown up - something that it has been claimed the undercoating prevented (even if not its primary purpose)

I was wondering about that too.
