How does the jack assy date correspond to the cars SPD?

In other words my Duster has a 10/14/1970 SPD, what date jack would I look for?

Re: Jack Date Question - 11/23/11 03:44 AM

I would be looking for anything from August to Sept or in code... "0 H" or a "0 J". From the info Barry just provided, the "I" is omitted for a month callout so "J" would be September. This alpha/numeric stamp is on the mechanical body of the jack and sometimes stamped into the rivet. On your application, most likely the body.

I think he meant to say "0 H" or "0 J" as "1 H and "1 J" would be too late for 71 model year as production ended in July 71 or " 1 G".....

I have 14 E bodies, and all of them that have original jacks, have them coded the same month as the month that the SPD of the car is, unless it is made in the first three days of the month(then the jack is from the previous month). The one you should be looking for is 0 K for Oct. 1970. I am sure there are exceptions to this, but this is what I have found with mine.

You are right. My mistake which I went ahead and corrected.

While on the subject, can anyone comment on the lengths of jacks? I have four box type - three are the same length and one is about an inch shorter. Wondering how many different lengths there might be and what the application is for the 'shorty' I have. Also, what differentiated the application of the 'T' style jack vs. the box type?

1970 Cuda, April SBD

99% sure it's the original jack
