Manifold prep and paint for non judged cars - 11/15/11 05:10 AM

What is the best process to clean up a used set of manifolds and then what products are recommended to apply after clean up? Not going on a judged vehicle, just want them to look good.

Ive had good results from just sandblasting and brushing on Eastwoods High Temp Stainless Coating. Its a lighter gray than the cast iron gray most people use.

Be sure to wear gloves when handling the parts once theyre blasted.

I agree, and at any time you can touch up the manifolds with the same eastwood product after the car is on the road.

I used the darker stuff:

Depends on your preference. Either way, you will likely get good results with either paint as long as your prep work is good.

Thats what I used on several sets of manifolds.

I really have only had luck with about 1/2 of Eastwood's products. Happily, this stuff was in the WINNING half. I applied it to a set as described above about 15 years ago and it still looks great!
