Can only find the tire , it's an F70x14 Red stripe sidewall. Showing the wheel is body color , assume the car is Q5, then it's a 14x5.5 steelie, code is not in my old white book and new ones are at home. If this is correct then the wheel cover is the red circle dog dish , full cover wheels weren't painted body color .

Tires is T83
** T83 is the STANDARD high performance 383/440 b-body tire for '69 - F70X14 "red streak" NYLON cord construction. Most probably a Goodyear "SPEEDWAY" (this tire is available reproduction from Kelsey Tire). Depending on assembly plant and/or production date: some '69 b-bodies recieved Firestone F70X14 "WIDE OVAL DELUXE CHAMPION" tires (I have yet to see a '69 383/440 Coronet "WM/WS" or Belvedere "RM/RS" with Firestones).

wheel is 16 Q5
** 16 is the STANDARD high performance 383/440 b-body wheel for '69 - 14X5.5"
** Q5 - it is painted body color - "bright turquoise metallic".

wh cover is 89
** 89 is the STANDARD "dog dish" hub cap, part # 2944089 - stainless/red stripe/fratzog

Goodyear switched from Speedway Wide Treads to Polyglas red stripes approximately April of '69.

Contact me if you have any questions about Goodyears.

Thanks to 6bbl for having the code info!

Not quite ..... The Polyglas was available (OPTIONAL) all year 383/440 (it was STANDARD on HEMI cars - F70X15 in size).

The STANDARD performance F70X14 "red stripe" across the board was a nylon cord tire (Super Bee, Road Runner, Charger R/T, GTX, Coronet R/T) for most cars this was the Goodyear "SPEEDWAY" sales code was T83. (This is the tire that lasted less than 20K miles & people about.)

OPTIONAL at NO-CHARGE was a performance F70X14 "white stripe" this was also a nylon cord tire (Super Bee, Road Runner, Charger R/T, GTX, Coronet R/T) for most cars this was the Goodyear "SPEEDWAY" sales code was T82. (This is another tire that lasted less than 20K miles & people about.)

OPTIONAL at $26.45 was a performance F70X14 "red stripe" this was the new to MOPAR fiberglass belted tire (Super Bee, Road Runner, Charger R/T, GTX, Coronet R/T) for ALL cars this was the Goodyear "POLYGLAS" sales code was T85. (Huge improvement in ride, grip, longevity. )

Firestone WIDE OVAL DELUXE CHAMPION nylon cord "red stripe" T83 & "white stripe" T82 tires have been found to be original on Hamtramck, MI assembled '69 Chargers. Charger is the only b-body assembled at Hamtramck in 1969.

* Reproduction "SPEEDWAY" tires are built fiberglass-belted just like the "POLYGLAS" tires ..... so no !!

Re: Tire and wheel question - 11/11/11 03:39 PM

I was going with information that Kelsey gave me. In '69, the Camero switched from the Speedway to Polyglas in April of '69.

In '68, Polyglas showed up on the '68 Hurst/Olds and the 68 1/2 Cobra Jet Mustang.

The F70-14Polyglas red stripe is available as well as the Speedway.
