Here is the tire size listing from the dealer data book. It shows 2 14" sizes available. You can check with Coker Tire for repops.

I'm pretty sure everyone will agree, they were either Goodyear or Firestone (I haven't seen a '66 or '67 Mopar with Firestones & your car probably used the tires from the '66 model year).

Here's the '66 Valiant page (from Hamtramck-Historical) looks like all 6.95-14

& as far as reproductions go -

Kelsey Tire makes a Goodyear 6.95-14 "Blue Streak" (at $360 each )

Coker Tire makes a Firestone E70-14 "red stripe" (at $193 each)

"if" this is your car - looks like "blackwall" - I can almost make out the tread pattern - I don't see "Barracuda" wheel covers

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PRICEY if thats the car in the manual, the promo pic i have shows the plain wheel covers too , not the bolt on wheel cover(the one that the lugnuts come thru) but there was one in the car looked to be original to the car now i dont know

A loose wheel cover 40+ years later is hardly evidence of original equipment.

it also has the long chrome lugnuts that "look " to be original to the car as well

I don't think the wheel cover installed would be related to the wheel width. There were different covers available as options so the car would get whatever was ordered. The parts book does have a guide for wheel size / tire size.

You might be able to find out for sure by ordering the build record from the Chrysler museum. http://wpchryslermuseum.org/newsroom.do?id=390&mid=135

Just my

I would be interested in knowing if you find out for sure.

If you are looking for the Bluestreaks, I can help out!!!

Re: Tire question - 11/10/11 05:23 AM

Tires on the IBM card are "28" = D70-14 "red stripe" NYLON cord tires.

..... so, the closest available are the Coker reproduced D70-14 "red stripe" Firestone WIDE OVAL SUP-R-BELT fiberglass belted.
Originals, if Firestone, would've been WIDE OVAL DELUXE CHAMPION.

Red stripe tires would look great with the red interior!!

hhhmmm i noticed in the chart posted above that the d70 would make sense, as it shows mandatory with disc brakes and thats what the valiant has

"Patience young grasshopper" - I'm working on it!!

Disc brakes & trailer towing combined required D70-14s.

Glad to see you got confirmation the wheel covers were original equipment and found out the original tire size.

Re: Tire question - 11/11/11 04:51 AM

Goodyear tires that would be available currently would be Polyglas red stripes E70-14's.

I have the pricing on these and the blue streaks. I will send this to you tonight.

Re: Tire question - 11/11/11 07:41 AM

I believe the Polyglas didn't become available on a Mopar until '69.
They would be an alternative & a good choice!!

Re: Tire question - 11/11/11 07:44 AM

A '67 era GOODYEAR tire would look more like these 7.75X15s reproduced for the Corvette crowd.

Re: Tire question - 11/11/11 07:52 AM

The Firestone tread design didn't change when they went from "DELUXE CHAMPION" (nylon cord) to "SUP-R-BELT" (fiberglass belted), just need to find out if a-bodies used Firestones for their 70-series tires in '67.

I am sorry that I was not clear. Currently, D70-14's are not being reproduced. The closest that Kelsey has is the E70-14 Polyglas red stripe.
