On an e body where the ashtray is recessed into the dash is that area painted black or metal/plated finish? (The area where the cigarette lighter is). Also I have a set of repop rocker moldings and the silver looks awful. Shiny, almost like a chrome color. what is the correct color?

The area that the lighter goes in is black. My 73 is gloss black. It's not the same suede finish as the rest of the dash frame.

As far as I know it's original along with the grease! Left the cigarette butts and old can tabs in the ashtray the way I found them.
