69 & 70 console shifter boot numbers

69 & 70 console shifter boot numbers - 11/05/11 01:45 AM

I appologize if this topic has been beaten to death before, but I'm just wondering what the deal is with the 69 and 70 b-body console shifter boots both having the same part number in the parts books and on the reproduction parts. They're obviously different pieces. Did the 70 pistol grip boots end up having a revised part number in later parts books, or is this just the way it's always been? Thanks

Factory hole in '70 was round just like in '69.

Aftermarket created the b-body pistol grip [] boot.

Thanks, I didn't know that. I would have bet that a 69 boot would have torn if you tried to put a pistol grip through it.

I agree......I was able to pick up a MINT/Could be NOS(zero signs of wear) boot for my Bird since the original is slightly torn and I really dislike the "new" boots.

This is a NOS 69 "round hole" shifter boot, with a Keisler repro 70 Pistol grip shifter,...it's a TIGHT fit, plently of "lube", and a slow installation starting at the shifter base, boots been on the car for about 6+ years now, no splits/cracks
