E body A pillar Trim Why are they different?

E body A pillar Trim Why are they different? - 10/27/11 04:39 PM

I was cleaning up my A pillar Trim today and noticed that the lower screw holes are not the same distance from the end. In other words, one is lower than the other. One of trim pieces is original to the car the other is one I bought a while back. Did the lower screw hole change at some point from 70-74? If so, I may have to find another one. I am not at my garage right now so I can't check to see if that is the way it is supposed to be but I'm thinking not.

E-body A-pillar trim screw locations changed a couple times from 70 to 74

WHY, I have no idea.

That's a great Photo Tony. Explains it perfectly. Seems that the one I bought to replace my broken one is a 71-73 piece. I also noticed that on the 71-73 piece, you can see a circular pattern in the grain where the screw hole for the 70 only piece would have been.

Thanks guys!

73 Challenger SPD 927 of 1972...only the lower holes are drilled. These are the original trim pieces. There is extra material around the upper holes but they aren't drilled.

Same as mine. November actual production date (day after Thanksgiving). I am thinking a 73-74 piece.
