70 RR Dash- air grabber location? - 10/03/11 06:57 PM

My lower dash piece was broken so I purchased one from a member here. Whats odd is the hole for the airgrabber is in a different location ( lower..) See photo.. any ideas?

My dash piece was trashed and I had to get another one and the hole was different on it so I don't think they tried to get them all the same. Ronnie

It could be that it varied by assembly plant, transmission, or part to part.

You might try a search. Someone was restoring a 70 rr & I recall there were several responses on that switch & location(s) of the hole(s). Was in the last year, I'm pretty sure.

Just did mine. But I purchased one with no hole because the locations were put in on the fly so to speak on assembly. I have 2 ralley dash frames and they're both different locations. For mine, I mounted the finish bezel, then tranferred the dash frame HOLE and screw locations onto the back of bezel. Then removed the bezel and did the SQUARE cutout and drilled the 2 holes. For yours, I'd do the same, except transfer the SQUARE cutout onto the dash frame, elongate the exsisting hole and drill 2 new holes provided there is ample excess for the new location. Or find another bezel with no hole and start fresh. I know of a black bezel with no hole in Idaho at this moment. Good luck, shouldn't be a hard fix.
