Front and Rear Window Channels. Should I blackout?

Front and Rear Window Channels. Should I blackout? - 10/03/11 02:53 PM

Before the front and rear windshields get installed, I just wanted to see if the channels that the glass sets in should be blacked out so the body color does not show through the glass. Does the trim hide that?
Thanks, Joe

Definitely black them out. I wound up pulling the windshield as there was way too much body color showing after the install. Mostly on the A pillars.

I was able to do the back light from the inside with a brush. Still have stiff neck from that.

Thanks guys, you both mentioned brushes. What type of paint did you use?

Semi-gloss enamel.

not sure but i think the black brushed on stuff you see is a primer windshield installers use. The factory may have used this also so the butyl would stick. Any windshield installers chime in.
