1967 build dates experts - 10/01/11 06:35 PM

Hey guys I've always been searching for the *ahem* original motor for my 67 383 4bbl Charger.
Just recently I had a customer come in with a 79 300 that has a, you guessed it, 1967 383....
The build date on my car is apr 25 67,,,,, the cast date on this block is 2/23/67. The stamp on the pad is 4 10 .
What would the average cast date be on a late april 383 built car?
Does this sound like a fit?

Thanks Rem.

CAST DATE makes NO DIFFERENCE its the ASSY DATE of 4/10 you would go by..this engine would be perfect for your car.. dan

The rule of thumb is maximum 3 month engine build date to vehicle build date. I've looked at a lot of '67 dates and usually it is less than a month to a month and a half. A 4/10 engine would be perfect for your car.

Thank you very much!!!!!!
Looks like its my lucky day (and his). He was concerned about the lack of power, when I started explaining The problem with a short stroke motor in a big car.
I guess I'll be finding a 440 for him...
