Correct Seam Sealer, undercoating? -> 69 HEMI Charger

Hi guys!

I am about to start paint on my 69 HEMI Charger and I was looking for some reference pics & adivice on how to apply the seam sealer, undercoating and undercoating on the insides of the quarter panels on my 69 HEMI Charger.

My car had been worked on b4 I got it, so I had no chance to reference it b4 I stripped it. So I have absolutely no references to work with.

So, here we go:

1. Where should I apply seam sealer on the passenger compartment and floor pans? What color seam sealer was used in each seam?
2. Where is the seam sealer on the floor pans painted over, and where was it applied after paint?
3. Where else will you find seam sealer from the factory? Fenders, around door hinges, A pillar seams to rocker, B pillars to rocker and quarter, deck filler to quuarter panel seams, trunk gutters to quarter panels, trunk lid al around the edges where the skin meets the underbrace, doors all along the edges, where else???? Or I am wrong in any of this? And what color sealer?
3. My car wasnt coded for undercoating, but I know some places on the underside of the car got undercoated regardless. Which are these places? Reference pics would be awesome.
4. I also need to appply the undercoating on the insides of the quarter panels. Reference pics would be great to replicate the spraying patterns, specially arounf the sidemarker opening. Luckily I do have some samples of original undercoatring to replicate the texture.

I see some good reference there, however I see he is using black seams sealer everywhere, and I have seen there is some white seam sealer on these cars, in places such as the exterior body gaps (deck filler to qtr panel, trunk gutters, edges of doors, etc).

Good reference to start, but I will do some more research to do my car right.....I have made up a list, Ill try to dig what I can first myself and then post what I find here....maybe you guys can help me with what Im missing....

Here is what I have been able to find out doing some research on original paint cars:

TRUNK FLOOR SEALER: Its all white in color and it seals the gaps on the trunk floor extensions agains the trunk floor, wheel wells against floor pan, around the TL openings on the inside of the tail panel. It got applied on top of the grey primer and then painted over.

TRUNK FLOOR TO REAR FLOOR PAN: its black in color and it got painted over.

A pillar to hinge post and hinge post to rocker: all seams sealed with white sealer. around the hinges there is sealer to. Painted over.

PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. Its all black sealer painted over. It may seem the floor pans got painted and then black sealer applied as the sealer appears to be solid black on all original cars, but truth is, floor pans got primed first, then black sealer applied and after that it got painted. For some reason the sealer seeped through the paint (probably because it got painted while the sealer was still soft) and it made the paint fade. I guess I will paint my floor pans body color, then apply the black sealer and then afterwards I will give the sealer a very mild paint coat after its all dry, just a powder coat to replicate the look on iriginal cars, where the paint on top of the black sealer has faded.

COWL TO FLOOR PAN: thick black sealer, painted over.

FENDERS: they have some white sealer painted over on the seams at the rop front.

rear quarter panel corners to tail panel: body gaps have white sealer in them, painted over. Seems they were smoothed out with the finger.

DECK FILLER TO QUARTER PANELS: seams sealer as above, white, painted over.

trunk gutters: seam sealer as above, white, painted over.

DOOR EDGES: white seam sealer, brushed on, painted over.

trunk lid edges: white seam sealer, brushed on, painted over.

quarter panels to B pillar & rocker: white seam sealer, painted over.

Rocker to quarter: lead (or tin)

rear side windows inner panel to wheel wells seam: white sealer painted over.

thats about it.....

I will post pics of original cars on my restoration website on facebook for those interested in seeing all this properly documented, and how I will replicate all of this.

Front floor pan to lower firewall seam- white/tan brushed sealer. (yes, side & top cowl seams are black tar sealer on the interior side)

Fender to inner fender- foamy sealer that oozed out. Lynch Rd. ass'y plant used a black soft strip caulk type product here.

Quarter panel wheel opening pinchweld & quarter extension edges- foamy sealer used here as well. Some slight oozing is sometimes seen.

4-speed shifter hump to floor- white/tan brushed sealer.
