serrated washer under ground and neg battery cable?

serrated washer under ground and neg battery cable? - 06/30/11 04:00 PM

Thought I recalled seeing discussion about using a serrated washer under the hold down bolts for the engine ground to firewall cable as well as the negative batter cable recently? Is this "correct?" couldn't find the post discussing this.

Thanks

Well, the negative cable (on a 69) only bolts to one location - on the engine, under the intake bolt and throttle return spring bracket (on non-AC cars for sure).

The rear strap bolts to the firewall with a similar screw (sometimes unique) that the voltage regulator and starter relay uses. They do usually have some kind of serration either under the head or have a serrated type captive spin washer incorporated into the screw.

One style of firewall screw....this one has a flange with built-in serrations under the head of it. The ballast resistor and voltage regulator are using the serrated type captive spin washer screw in this pic.
