Factory option-14" front & 15" rear for real? - 01/30/11 08:33 PM

A friend of mine had a 70 Super Bee with 14" rallyes on the front and 15" on the rear. It was factory equipped and was even shown on the braking info sheet in the glove box. Saw the paperwork myself. Anyone seen any other Mopars equipped like this?

Edit- I should have said "supposedly" factory equipped !

First I've ever heard of that

Why would the braking sheet show the tire size? Do they normally have tire size? The one I have is not handy.

I wonder if it's a misprint and someone decided to follow it later on.

Let's think this through....

How would that be coded on the BS? WS? Anyone ever seen a factory reference to this set up?

How would you ever rotate tires? Why would the factory make an owner purchase two different sizes of tires when it was time to replace them? What if the owner couldn't purchase matching tires? Would the owner then be forced to purchase two more matching rims?

What size spare would come with the car 14? 15?

Lots of things to think about on this one....

well I could make a call and see if he could scan the paper but I don't know the new owned too well although we have spoken.
When my friend had the car he had to show the brake info sheet to a lot of disbelievers.

AAR Cudas and TA Challengers had different size tires front and rear and so did the 78 Lil Red Express. No spare on the 78 LRT

Agreed,..tires not rims the brake sheet is obviously a typo

You must be mistaken in what you thought you saw? Different size tires on an AAR/TA but not different size wheels. In a judged car show, a car with different size wheels from front to back would lose points unless they could show paper work. I'd like to see the Broadcast Sheet or sales order on this one too.

It clearly showed 14 inch front wheels and 15 inch rear wheels. I rode and drove the car plenty and went thru all this controversy endless times with him. Real deal as far as I know

I'll guess a typo on the Consumer Information sheet, it does show tire sizes but does not mention rims.

Tire sizes were also noted on the label in the driver's side door jamb. If one exists for this car, what is the part number for it?

The last two digits of the part number for the sticker would be on the broadcast sheet also.

Take a look at the pic here. Braking sheets list all the tire sizes for that model and year. Here is one for a '71 Cuda with E60s. But the 14-inch data is there next to it as well. You sure this is not what has you confused?

Makes sense - Only 2 tire/rim sizes were available on a 70 Bee....F70-14 and F60-15

well since I don't have the sheet available to look at right now I'll just leave it be. I'll see if I can get a copy of it.
I won't rule out the typo possibility.
The whole point of my post was to see if any other cars were built with staggered rim sizes

Poor image I know, but it is of a 1970 Superbee CI sheet. It does show the standard and optional tire sizes.

ok. I should have written my friends car "supposedly" came equipped with the 2 different size rims.
It is possible we all misinterpreted it.
I'll still see if I can find out for sure.

By the way, what does the sheet for the T/A cars show?
