In 71 ECS was standard... 70 was California only.. 71 export might not get it but otherwise it was there...

I believe the same as well, 71 came standard with ECS. My early 8/13/70 built car has ECS as well.
The cap in the photo appears to be too thick also.
Just my opinion.

NOS, and i'm pretty sure it's an ECS cap

Bill,
Is that a P/N 3466826 cap? It is not the same as a 70 ECS cap. The 70 cap doesn't have the extra two retainer tabs and the twist lever is upside down.

Chrysler changed the filler tubes for both the Challenger and Barracuda after June 71 and these take a different gas cap. I believe the tube opening is smaller in diameter.

You guys are correct about the ECS. I made a mistake.
Bill, that cap seems like a 72 and up challenger cap .It has double tangs.
The owner of the car is quite sure he has the original cap.
I am unsure .
Anyone else?

Couldn't say for sure I bought an NOS one back in the day....It looks NOTHING like the one in your picture....
You'd think I would know what it looks like....I put enough darn gas in the thing....

I haven't seen the car since Moparfest, it's in storage and I never get over there

Jules,
The cap you have is definitely not an original cap. The original caps were made by Stant and have a solid domed rivet with an "S" stamped on it.

The orignal cap for my 71 cuda looks like Bills picture except the S is stamped at a different angle. the underside of mine is different as it does not have the 4 tabs, it only has the 2 small tabs, I can not send a picture my camara has
