Did the '71 Road Runner accent stripe change color ?

Did the '71 road runner roof (c-pillar) reflective accent stripe change color from white to dark depending on the angle?

It's just the reflective treatment that fools the eyes. It doesn't change color otherwise.

saw this from the October 1970 Car Craft issue that hyped it as "changes color". So there was only one accent stripe "color" for the '71 RR and photos that I've seen that look like a black stripe were due to the angle?

BTW I love those slots on the road runner (and the Goodyear "Blue Streaks")

There were 3 colors for the 1971 Road Runner:

black
white
gold

None change color - it's the reflective coating.

One of the nicest looking 71 Road Runners I've ever seen was one I missed out on buying way back in 1989. It was sitting in a driveway in Petaluma California, original black on black 440+6 car (can't recall the trans but I THINK it was a 4 speed) what a cool car that one was, in slightly deteriorated original condition, looked like original paint and still looked decent.... It had the gold reflective stripe which I think "made" the car.

Black and gold is SOOOO sweet . . . pretty rare for a RR.

Kinda like this one

As mentioned, 3 colors available from the factory, all reflective. The do appear to change color because of the reflectivity, especially when taking a photo with flash.
