68 RR trans - 10/08/10 12:20 AM

On a 4 speed trans for a 68 RR 383 how far out is the input shaft from the front of the case ? Ours is 8 5/8 " it seems like it is about 1/2" to long like it bottoms out in the crank before it gets to the bell housing ? Thanks

Is the motor original to the car ? That is to say, check to be sure the crank is drilled for the pilot bushing.

The motor is out of a 69 charger it is drilled for a bushing. We have the orginal motor to be rebuilt. Thanks

you have an automatic engine...mopar didnt finish drill the auto cranks...napa makes a special pilot bushing, and you have to cut about 1/2 in off the snout of the input...then it bolts right together

Will it be ok when I put the orginal motor back in or will I have to change out the inputshaft? Thanks

As long as you transfer the new roller bearing over from this crank or get another one and install in the original crank you can use the tranny on both.
