Anyone familiar with PG CLassic Restoration - 09/20/10 05:15 PM

I am looking for some of the parts they supply and was wondering if anyone had experience with their stuff. ie fit quality, ect. They seem to have very fair prices. Seat covers especially. I also need exhaust tips and some other stuff. Please comment.

It's nice stuff. I've used lots of their trim etc...I think their seat covers get mixed reviews, but you get what you pay for.
A lot of the items are the same as what BE&A supply.

Everything worked well that I bought from there except for the seat covers. Like stated, you get what you pay for but at the time legendary didnt have what I needed so I went with PG. The material was very nice but the fit took a lot of tweeking by my upholsterer. All said and done they do look nice in the car.

It's basically all the same stuff as Mike at BE&A sells and PG's customer service isn't what Mike's is IMO.

I buy from BE&A and I'm in Canada (same as PG) if that tells you anything.

Don't know if it makes a difference or not, but the PG stuff comes from China. I ordered a set of headlight bezels for a Challenger from them and the box had Chinese writing all over it, looked wierd. But they looked ok and I put them on the car. I have never bought anything from BE&A so I can't say where it comes from and its quality.

I bought a set of exhaust tips from them for my RR and one was cut wrong, had weird angle/slant to it.

Re: Anyone familiar with PG CLassic Restoration - 09/20/10 10:08 PM

I bought quite a few things from them. Console top set was junk. Took hours of tweaking to make them fit. Side markers were fair at best. One fell apart when installing. Dash pad fit but not perfect. Head rests fit very nice. Fender mount turn signals fit and look real good. Gauge bezel looks good but lettering doesn't line up with gauges very good. Yup most is China made. Most of my stuff was shipped direct from China. But they had the stuff. Not a big choise on suppliers. Probly all coming from same manufacturer anyway. Better then the 42 year old parts i had . Seat covers used to be best from Legenday but now plenty of complaints about there product also . Face it nothing made in USA any more.

I'm a dealer for PG stuff here in ontario, So call me biased but I look at it this way... If you can't find nice original stuff, then PG is a good option... some of their items are excellent some are garbage, but all can be made to work if you have no other option...

we're having an issue with the charger side marker where the bulb doesn't fit or turn into the socket, and one of ours fell apart on install also, but we're making it work, the bezel is nice and thats the important part! The charger taillights they sent are pretty nice...

It's hit and miss for every supplier out there for aftermarket stuff. They all have items that are good and bad...

As for china and u.s. made... look at the bare steel patch panels from cross canada or sherman auto parts....They are u.s made and are about the crappiest thing I've ever seen offered, my 10 year old daughter could form them better! Don't put your faith in what part of the world it comes from!

Strange that on their ebay ads, they claim
that their company reproduces the products
themselves.

PG Classics is based in Canada and they do make all their own parts in China. Peter Gee, the owner travels back in forth all the time. I've heard that he's actually staying in China now.
This is the same company that makes BE&A's parts as well.

Re: Anyone familiar with PG CLassic Restoration - 09/21/10 07:06 PM

I bought a set of dog dishes for my '68 from them. They are very nice. I appreciate what they do to offer alternatives to NOS and used parts.

After that, I bought some stuff from Mike at BE&A. What a great experience that is! Mike is very into Mopars personnaly and professionally, fun to talk cars with and a true resource of knowlege and experience, especially regarding ebodies. He's one of many on this boad who are true assets to the craft of Mopar restoration.

Twenty years ago, one could only dream that someone would produce parts like these for Mopar.

Have several PG items, so far none have given me any problems.

BE&A is much better for customer service. I had problems with a PG part and there customer service must be from China also. The woman who answered the phone could barely speak any English. And had no knowledge of the parts. Mike knows the parts. They pretty much both offer the same parts so go with BE&A if possible.

Asked them for a door prize donation for our show. Got told by Peter himself that they wont be coming but that somone from B,E & A was coming. I asked Mike and he said no they weren't. So to me that is a lie. One simple "no it just isn't in our budget this year would of been enough for me and I would have even checked them out for parts but since that as done for me I am done ith any parts buying from them. If they are going to lie then what else are they going to do. Mom's old saying that a lie will come back to bite you in the end. Guess that is true here for me.

just my .02 but buy from Mike he is so much nicer to deal with than P.G.!

I edited this comment of my post because it hurt Mike's feelings? (that and he threaten me with a law suit)

Mike's a great guy, I think if he had a chance to step up and help sponsor your show then he would have!
It sounds as if people were making excuses not to help you out by just pointing the finger at someone else...

Re: Anyone familiar with PG CLassic Restoration - 09/22/10 02:32 PM

yeah I know Mike would have helped out. delt with him enough to know what type of guy he is too. I do have the feeling that they were trying to pass off the buck and I amsure had no idea that I had dealings with Mike. Again I was just rubbed wrong by his doing this so again this is my .02 on this subject. I also agree with the talk about it being hard to understand the lady who answers the phone all though have heard she does know alot just hard to understand her.

Re: Anyone familiar with PG CLassic Restoration - 09/22/10 04:16 PM

As I said before (and dozens of times in the past) PG's stuff is sold through BEA in the states and Mike is much easier/better to deal with.....you really don't need to know anything else!

as far as the parts themselves, some are good (most, I'd say) although it's certainly hard to beat the original stuff. Some is not (i.e. the ramcharger duct which Mike was upfront about with me) Overall I'm happy with the vast majority of my purchases and I've very happy with Mike's customer service.

I've purchased a few things from for my 70 Challenger including taillight bezels, side marker light bezels, and a seat belt set. The items all looked great and fit well but I was disappointed to see my taillight bezels have started to pit this year. My car is stored in a garage.

Re: Anyone familiar with PG CLassic Restoration - 09/22/10 06:47 PM

With EVERYTHING said above. I have bought hundreds of items from PG and Mike. With PG I will caution you to open and check every item in every box the minute it arrives. I cannot tell you how many times that parts are missing or in mislabled boxes. It is very frustrating to have a car going together and open a box to then make this discovery. But quality is very good

Re: Anyone familiar with PG CLassic Restoration - 09/23/10 01:19 AM

Thanks for all the input. I didn't mean for this to be a spot to bash anyone. I was just hoping to hear about some first hand experiences with stuff purchased from this vendor. I know that people are always gun ho to write a review when they have a bad experience and alot less likely to comment if things go smooth. I think I'm going to try and start a shopping list thread so people can chime in and help me by reccomending decent parts they have purchased for their car. Thanks again for all the comments.

I have delt with Peter Gee before Mike was selling his stuff.
Long wait for parts shipped from China and once wrong part but he did take care of it.
The Lady I talked with first was no help.
Parts were of good quality.

Solid aluminum, & I heard a few years ago that he died.

One less manufacturer inside the US.

Re: Anyone familiar with PG CLassic Restoration - 09/24/10 02:05 AM

less than good customer service. i have to order a few things soon and it will be coming from Mike.
Vendors forget we can deal anywhere we want to so alot of the time for me it comes down to customer service that wins me over.
my 2010 catalog was even mailed from china

Maybe they have a new girlthere now but I just called last week looking for exhaust tip hangers and she communicated just fine.

So far everything I've ordered from PG has been shipped quickly and the quality is excellent.

Re: Anyone familiar with PG CLassic Restoration - 09/25/10 04:03 AM

Everything Ive ordered has been fine. I did howver not like that the black satin finish lifted quite easily around the screw holes on a 71 Demon rallye dash bezel.
