DCC formula Organisol paint on RR Hood. - 08/23/10 06:32 AM

I had my local paint guru mix up the new DCC single stage paint for my Roadrunner hood.
By contrast I had the correct laquer formula mixed for the dash and steering column..
The new formula is a really nice satin finish, and much different than the dash.., which came out very rough after drying, the laquer texture seems a lot rougher than original parts.

When you sprayed the laquer , how did you reduce it ? Its supposed to be 1 part paint 3 parts thinner .

I painted it a couple of years ago, but I mixed it 1 to 1 1/2, which was the norm back when Laquer was common..

I still have the headliner conceal moldings to paint,I will mix it a lot thinner and give feedback..

The DCC did come with a 6 to 2 to 1 mix clearly labeled on the can..

The reason I went with the DCC was that I didnt want to chance laquer on top of my fresh DCC paint..
The dash had DP primer so the laquer was no problem..

Im not clear on your starting post.
Are you asking why the finish is different than the dash you painted?
The dash should be the rough texture you spoke of. its referred to as a suede finish which is rough and not shiny to reduch sun glare reflected back into the windshield from the dash. I didnt use the suede paint on the R/T and on sunny days the glare is a problem.

If you already knew this than please pardon the interuption.
