Are the Mopar Performance argent silver rallye wheel spray paint cans reliable, or are they closely related to their engine paint? My experience with their engine paint cans in the past has been to buy two since one won't spray at all, or will die before all the paint is used up.

I suppose I could have the ppg paint store make some silver that I could spray at home, but I don't know the paint code + I'd be stuck with a bunch of leftover material. A quart seems like way too much paint to cover 4 wheels.

If the MP argent silver spray cans work then I assume one properly functioning can is enough to do a set of 4 wheels?

Are you going to paint the wheels black and then paint just the outboard side argent?

Yes, I have a partial quart of black ppg acrylic enamel that I planned to spray on the backside of the rims. Just based on how much material is in a typical rattle can I figure 1 can would be enough to over the street side of 4 rims. The rims already have light grey primer on the outside so it shouldn't take a lot of paint to get coverage.

I see the MP paint on EBAY for $11+/- per can + shipping. I don't mind paying that much for it since it's more convienent, but if the cans are a hit and miss then maybe ordering them through the dealer would be better if I end up with a dead one?

In a spraycan you can't get much better than Krylon Dull Aluminum #1403. It's cheap, sprays on real nice and the color is very close. I'll never buy another can of any color MP paint. If it will come out of the can then it's the wrong color.

Also, don't expect the dealer to be much help if you don't like a can of MP paint. Most dealers seem to consider anything with a P partnumber to be sold AS IS. I would clarify it ahead of time that if it won't come out of the can their getting it back and see what they say.

3960 is the ppg paint code. I'd just get a half pint in DCC single stage if your spraying the black with a gun already and have the ability.
